2009 was certainly a year of unchartered waters and unique challenges!
Without doubt, the Global Financial Crisis ushered in a period of business caution and consumer constraint as economies around the world contracted to a degree not seen since the 1932 Depression. 2009 is definitely a year many small business owners are happy to see draw to a close.
In Australia, we were more fortunate than most, being the only major global economy to have avoided a recession. That is not to say doing business this year was not without its challenges.
The good news is that the economic vital signs indicate that 2010 will be a year of growth and recovery, but it may be a while before business and consumer confidence returns to pre-GFC levels.
It will be interesting to see the fallout in terms of regulatory and compliance changes and their impacts on small business operations in Australia. We will endeavour to keep you abreast of any changes as they happen and do what we can to help you manage the impacts on your small business.
